What to do with my 303 win enfield?

No my good man, its a No4 with a 303 bore & a 308 win chamber, hence 303 win. Seriously, its the new 35 whelen (kidding).

- Getting close to 8mm/08, isn't it?

- Or, would you have to go all of the way to .358 Winchester (that or .260 Remington would be great fun in onew of my L1A1s!).

Then why not just a .308W casing with a .303 slug?

So you are a quarter-inch short in the barrel. There is nothing that I can find in Holy Writ or in the "Text Book of Small Arms - 1909" or even in the "Harley-Davidson Model WLC Repair Manual" that says you MUST run 52,000 PSI loads. Might just be a lot of fun.

Handload with a .308W die with a .311 expander ball and it's 'all systems go'.

Good luck!

What should I do with this old girl & its 303 barrel rechambered to 308? Here are my options

1 Replace the 303 barrel with a nos dcra barrel cost aprox $400

2 Replace the current barrel with a used take off 303 barrel aprox $250

3 Rechamber existing barrel to 7.62x39. I don't know if there is enough metal left for this.

4 Leave it alone & shoot cast out of it because the chamber was badly cut & extraction is kind of rough.

If you reload, stick with number 4. Why sink a ton of $ into it? You can custom make ammo for it...

Did you try shooting stock 7.62/.308 ammo with it? Or is the bore oversize for the bullets?

If polishing the chamber is doable, go that route.

"...What should I do with this old girl..." Change the barrel to a .308, if you can find one.
"...30-40 Krag..." Almost impossible to get. Loaded seasonally only by Winchester and Remington. Ditto for the brass. The U.S. retailers never say what that season is either.
