Just curious as to what you would think a must have upgrade is ? (Norinco clone ) I already have a new charging handle , MOE grip, accu wedge , trigger guard .. cheapy ncstar

changing grips, charging handles, etc, is all exterior styling stuff. if you want upgrade, as in internal stuff: use a dpms springs and pins kit. trigger too perhaps. else. Do a detailed strip and clean.

I'm planning on changing the front post sight to the Match one... I like the thinner profile as it makes it easier for me to aim the rifle.

Cheers

I won't waste money on swapping out chinese parts for DPMS stuff. Just use the original until they break.

A real upgrade is to buy more ammo, shoot it out and buy another one.

That is the whole point of buying a 700 dollars Norinco versus a 1400 US made rifle. Use the money to buy an extra case and a half ammo. If you want to bling bling it you might as well buy a LMT or STAG to start with.

The more money you spend on it, the more you defeat the purpose of buying a Norinco in the first place.

Bingo!

Put a decent optic on it and shoot it. Every report that has been posted suggests that they shoot well.
The decent optic can be put on anything later on.

If you want to play Mr. Dressup, fine. But if the doodads and bobbleheaded dolls don't make it a better shooter, what is the point? Don't confuse cosmetic gimmicks with "must have".

Ya I agree with what your all saying , but I just changed the grip and charging handle and wedge cause i got them cheap , I have done a thorough clean I just cant wait to get out and shoot it this weekend ! Thanks again .

I went and upgrading the M4 furniture for the Magpul MOE line.
Made a huge difference in the "feel" of the gun.
Went from okay to pretty nice. FN front type heat shroud should be mandatory instead of the round ones - Pistol Grip depends on how the stock one fits your hand (I have long fingers and stock grips don't fit me). Buttstock was a personal preference thing as factory stock was perfectly serviceable.

Other than that the gun shoots fine. As an added bonus - around the 1000 round mark the trigger went from pretty gritty/creepy - to half decent letoff.

As longest range I have available is 200 yards -- spending any additional money on it wouldn't make it shoot any better.

I played 'dressup' with mine - Magpul MOE kit ( buggered up front handguard a bit but it is OK ) and flea-Bay Fakepoint and Magnifier. Stuck in an Accuwedge and gave it a good clean and lube. I hate to admit it but while it don't feel as nice or as solid its shoots just as good as my LMT MRP. ( I am betting of course that the LMT outlasts it ! )

I'm extremely new to the black rifle scene, but now I got one.
My 2 cents on the Norc; the upper and lower feel pretty sloppy and the butt stock is sloppy plus the mags that come with it are 5 round...
So while I agree with most of the posts on leave it alone and spend the money on ammo I personally think that if a cheap wedge will tighten up the feel of the upper and lower then I need one, I feel the same about the stock and ten round pistol mags are just a must, IMO anyway...
Go much farther and you might as well have bought something else.

Norc $700
MagPul $100 or so US
Accuwedge if needed $10 or so ( can't recall but cheap )
10 Round Mag x 2 $70

Total $900 or thereabouts.

Entry level US AR $1200-$1500 and still may need upgrades.

High end US AR $2500 or so - no upgrades really needed.

It is all about how the math works for you but I still maintain the Norc M4 is one helluva buy :)

Get some good magazines, lots of ammo and shoot it so you can become familiar with the platform. You'll improve the effectiveness of the gun far more by improving the shooter rather than any gadget you can think of bolting onto your gun.

Then put some money into a decent optic, not one of those Chinese knock off airsoft sights.

This was the best upgrade I did to my stock AR. Not a big deal if you don't use irons, but a great upgrade if you do. Second best upgrade was a JP spring kit to bring the trigger weight down.

I put a new upper, barrel, and played around with different sets of handguards.

But mines an older cq311, bit diff than the newer ones.

he, trying one out in the moring....cant wait, as far as upgrades go, i will decide what i need after i shoot it, not what other poeple did to their rifles. I think its improtant to first identify problems and then look for solutions...the forum is great for knowledge and suggestions on the ar platform, but at the end, the one that pays for the parts is you and you should pick a part that best fits your issue

have fun with the rifle
