GP100 recall

On the Ruger forum there is talk about a GP100 recall

I was wondering if our dealers check the recalls before they ship firearms.

It's affecting a very limited batch, from what I have read. Ruger stated that they were contacting individual owners not a blanket recall for the heat treating issue.

After Remington recalled their 597 in 17 mag, I noticed a few dealers advertising them at reduced prices. I'm not jumping to conclusions, but it did make me wonder about the ethics of knowingly selling a potentially dangerous products.

Hmm...Just picked one up from these forums. Hopefully mine isn't affected. I don't know what the heat treatment issue involves, but after 200 rounds of 38 specials and .357 rounds, my cylinder has a slight tint to it, but certainly nothing that would be considered out of the norm.

i sent ruger an email with my serial number, they got back to me in 48hrs. no trouble on mine.

What I read on the Ruger forums is that the affected s/n's are 175-90### to 175-95### (but not all) built in June and July of 2010.

I'm OK!

I should get receiving my Ruger GP100 any day now... Perhaps I should call up the gun smith I bought it from and ask him about this recall.

E-mailing Ruger will be my main priority. I figured I'd ask my gun smith if any of the GP100s he's sold has been affected this recall.
