Good day all, I have a 9mm H&K USP Custom Sport that I use for Production IPSC. I am very happy with the gun, but find the all-black adjustable sights not to my liking.

The last I heard was that we could change sights for ISPC Productions guns and if that's still true then I would like to put some fibre optic sights on my USP Custom Sport.

Does anyone know who makes/sells a fibre optic front sight for a USP Custom Sport? The front sight is taller on the Custom Sport than the regular USP front sight.

Or would I have to replace both front and rear sights and if so who makes/sells them for the USP.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I don't think the Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight will work with my adjustable rear sight, but I've e-mailed them to find out. Does anyone know if Wholesale Sports carries TruGlo or are there any other local/Canadian sources.

I ordered Tru-Glos for my USP direct from North Sylva - the Canadian distributor. I have no idea if thats still possible. The dot on the Tru Glo sights is HUGE and I found it distracting. AFAIR it will not work with the adjustable rear sight.

If you are looking at the Truglo you may want to consider the TFO sights - They are a combination tritium and fiber optic. They are quite thick though which you may not prefer, especially for longer shots.
TSE carries truglo and I'd bet they have both the TFOs and regular FO sights for the USP. As you mention though, I'd ensure the front sight is high enough if you just want to run it with the stock rear sight that comes with the custom sport.

Thanks for the input. I have sent a message to TSE to verify they carry them. How do you guys find the TruGlo sights, aside from the huge front sight?

I have TFOs on five of my pistols...
Very robust sights, and due to the tritium combination, the FO rods don't have a tendancy of working loose or fall out like on sights that just have the FO.

They're good sights, but as noted the front blade and dot is quite fat. Make sure you take care when installing - I bought a set from TSE for my Sig and beat them to hell with a punch trying to get them onto the slide. I seem to recall the USP sights being easier to swap.

My USP 45 sights had the fiber optic only and every now and then the rod would get shot loose and disappear. Sounds like the TFO ones don't have this problem.

I'm now shooting with Heinie sights which I think are great but do not have a fiber optic option.

PSI sights for the USP are adjustable, like the Custom Sport sights,..but with a red FO front, and green FO rear.

Thanks for the insight guys. Maurice, who carries the PSI Sights? Raks, How do you like Heines in comparison to the fiber optic sights?

The hot combination in IPSC production is a FO front and an all-black rear. You look "through" the rear and focus on the front. The eye centres itself in the rear notch naturally like a closed peep on a target rifle, and the FO front "floats" over the target much like a red-dot. While it may sound like a great idea to put FO on both sights, it actually slows you down. Your eye spends too much time trying to get all the dots lined up perfectly instead of just focusing on the front.
Heines are great sights by the way.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Viper26, I'd love to get just a front fiber optic sight to go with black adjustable back sight, but I haven't found any that will work with the stock adjustable back sight. If I wanted to replace the back sight with an all black one, what would you recommend? I know Novak makes a plain black one for the USP.

I see now. The front sight is taller to match the adjustable rear on your model. The fixed rear sight on the Custom Combat and Custom Competition are Novak or at least that "style". I've always liked that sight.

The set PSI sells are the tall target ones,..they are a set...they match.

I've been using Heinie Slant Pro's for the last year or so. The front blade is fairly thin, supposedly this allows for a faster sight picture, they are serrated and flat black so they don't glare in different lighting. I like them a lot.

I haven't shot a lot with a fiber front sight for a few years (during which time my shooting has improved) so I don't know if theres any advantage to me or not.

Beltfed since I can't find a front sight that will go with my existing rear, I'll be replacing both.

Maurice I'll look into the PSI Sights, but I don't really need an adjustable rear like I have now.

Thanks for all the feedback. I haven't made a final decision yet, but am leaning towards a set of Hi-Viz sights.
