CZ 527 Carbine 7.62x39mm or .223

Anyone have any experience with this rifle? or can point me to a good review?

I was thinking of buying a Ruger M14, but after seeing this online, the Ruger is on hold.

I had one in 7.62x39. Accurate, handy, lightweight, and extremely well built. I sold it in a moment of weakness. I wish I hadn't.

It's a hell of a lot more gun than a Mini-14. Can actually hunt things bigger than coyote too. That said, the the Mini-14's a very nice little carbine. We seem to put them down as our national firearms past time but the first time I handled one I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree.

I have owned both the 14 and the 30. The fit & finish were really nice, the balance & LOP almost perfect - especially with a high cap magazine

BUT

I let both go as I acquired cheaper rifles that shot better. Neither were inaccurate, but when rifles like the Rossi and the Remington SPR18 are available for so much less and achieve the same accuracy - the novelty wore off and the Rugers found new homes.

Keep in mind too, all of these rifles shoot commercial ammo better than surplus.

I purchased one this summer with the intention of scoping it and shooting surplus along with my sks and cz858. It comes with a fixed iron sight and you need to switch it for different distances, since my intention was to use a scope it didn't matter. It handles nicely, good LOP although I certainly feel the difference in the "kick" over the longer barrel sks and cz858.

The reason your CZ858 and SKS have less perceived recoil due to them being autoloaders, part of the energy that would have become recoil is used to operate the action. That said, the 7.62x39 is so mild you literally forget there's recoil no matter what you're firing, so it's a moot point really in my opinion.

Great little rifles, I went with 223, if I had access to more hunting ammo/brass for the 7.62, I'd get it too!
