Just finished watching the latest Resident Evil movie, and Alice the lead character puts American nickels into her shotgun shells and uses them to decimate the zombie hordes. Now I have heard of a similar idea of people shooting dimes out of small gage shells. I am sure this will lead to someone being dumb enough to attempt this in reality... What do you think the outcome would be?

I would love to see a comparison of the two like on myth busters!

Maybe finally we can find a use for pennies! :p

Nickels or dimes, too expensive for me :)

Not sure how it would go.

In the old old black powder days, when soldiers ran out of shot, whatever fit in the barrel was shot, however, they were probably backed into a corner.
 
I've heard of dimes before for home defense as they should stay within the house unless fired through a window. They would be nasty to be hit with. Probably hard on the barrel too.
 
When I was a kid one of my friends emptied out the shot of 12 ga. shell replaced it with a weiner then shot his brother in the ass from about 25 feet, his whole ass and most of his back was black and blue. When their dad came home the shooter couldn't sit down for a week either!
 
I've done the dimes thing before out of an 18" open choke. They are random and don't stick into much. The only interesting thing is that they leave a stamp mark if they hit something hard anywhere near flat.

I would think it's a bad idea for home defense on so many levels.
