I am interested in a 10/22. I figure it would be aseier to but a new basic model and then replace the barrell with a dlask one. I was going to but a dlask barrel and receiver but it would be less expensive to start with a full ruger 10/22. That way I have the bolt and all the bits and peices allready.
Any way does anyone know who has the cheapes 10/22?
holesale sports has one listed at $249.

If your going to change the receiver and barrel might as well just build it from scratch. Because it would be cheaper to buy the other parts (ruger or not) then you will get back from selling the ones you dont need from a full stock rifle.

Really all comes down to wether or not you are going to change the receiver! If so than you are looking at an expensive proposition. It really depends on how far you actually intend to go with this build. If you are gonna be getting a target barrel, new reciever, aftermarket trigger group, and a new stock you are into the $1000 range after taxes and shipping.

I was in your shoes, and decided to by a Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical. It shoots 1/2 inch groups at 50 and about 1 1/2 - 2 inches at 100m with bulk Blaser ammo. I have since bought a couple other stocks and upgraded the trigger and have spent well under what I would have building it all from scratch.

Rimfire Sports . Com has everything you would need to build it from scratch, but you could just as easily buy a stock 10/22 and swap out the barrel, stock , and upgrade the trigger and extractor for alot less!

Why the receiver? Serves little purpose unless you are building a serious rig. I would say the Stock, Barrel, and Trigger are the first things you need to change!

Stock Ruger 10/22 = $300-$350

I will sell you a Hogue Overmolded Stock - $75 shipped

Get a Dlask Barrel with a heavy profile (.920) you can get any length but I like 16-19 inches = $150 - $200

Get at least the Target Hammer from rimfiresports (.com) $40

And your good to go!

Or you could just buy a Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical for $500-$550!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it comes with a bipod and rail!!!!!!!!!!!

I would buy and build,..which I am still in the process of doing. It is much more fun to build it up. First thing I did was replace some trigger components, buffer, and extractor. Did some polishing as well and replaced the mag release button with an extended one.

If your going to build don't forget that you will have to wait for parts, and in my case wait a long time. I am waiting for the barrel and it has been a LONG wait. My barrel was booked with Shilen on apr 7 and I still don't have it. Here's the list of whats on my gun. Promag Archangel stock, Hornet 2 stage trigger, dlask reciever, Kidd bolt cocking handle and guide rod, and when it finally arrives a Shilen 16" barrel. I also have a Vortex scope 3-9X40 on it.

So if your wanting to shoot right away I would say that building is not the way to go.

I bought the VQ trigger group (complete with housing, mag release, etc) It's stunning how good of a trigger it is, everyone who shot it came away with a ear to ear grin. I bought the DAR-22 receiver to get the fixed rail.

I bought the 10/22 Tactical VLEH when I found that with a 'target' trigger group and barrel the cost was higher to build from a basic $250 carbine than to just buy the VLEH outright.

why not look at a thompson center r-55 all weather heavy barrel. similar to 10/22 come with match barrel, lifetime warranty and will shoot the lights out of almost all 22lr semi's? really, I dumped my 10/22, which was great after the first time shooting a t/c r-55. They are fitted with a shilen match barrel from the factory.

In my opinion, dlask receivers are a steal of a price at $150
It's hard for me not to get the credit card out.
