This is the first time I did this but I think it turned out great I used sand from my work and dusted the grips so its like a really aggressive skate tape

Should I add a second color or keep it black as midnight?

I use Grip Tape on my pistols. I have a small stash of rubber shrink wrap with grit surfacing. Awesome stuff, but they don't make it anymore. Awesome stuff for grips.

It's an Infantry fav. We ran these years before Magpul was even around. My personal take on it was to strip the strands out of the 550 sheathing and insert the plastic strip from a cable tie. Keeps the pull taught and ready to be grabbed.
