Well I took my new Browning T-bolt out to the range today. I put a Leupold 6 power scope on it. The scope was on my Sako but I didn't like the wide reticle so I sent it back and had it changed to a finer duplex. I also bought a couple of shooting sand bags and really feel the rear one makes a big difference. I can see how a person can get really hooked on target shooting. It is such a challenge, I had so much fun today.
I got the rifle sighted in at 25 yards, took about 100 clicks up. It was real noisy on the rifle range, couple of guys sighting in with muzzel breaks, man loud. I wanted my wife to shoot so we moved to the pistol range but they have crappy tables.
I was really impressed with my groups for first time with the rifle. I was using Blaser ammo and on my last group I had 7 rounds left so I shot them all at one target. I could only see 3 real holes with a small flap of paper in the middle. I knew the other 4 could not have missed the whole target, but just to make sure I opened another box of CCI and shot a 5 shot 1/2" group. Most of the groups were around 1/2" nothing earth shattering but I was happy with them.
I can hardly wait to get back out and try some of my other ammo and move to 50 yards.
I just found the slower pace of precision shooting was more enjoyable and cheaper. In the same amount of time with my Glock or Sig pistols I would have used up a lot more ammo and money. Problem now is I want an Anschutz 54. Thanks for listening to my excited babble. Cheers Roscoe
