I think to answer that question you should also mention how often you hunt. If I only got out on weekends, or a couple/few times a week I would concentrate on the hunting, which I do more often then not.
But, I bow hunt every day, twice during archery season. I am in a morning stand and another in the evening. I think I would go wacko if all I did was listen to the birds. I spend so much time in the trees with them that they would miss me if I was gone.
I use my Blackberry, I surf CGN and a couple other hunting sites, I communicate with my family and my poor wife who knows what to expect on October 1st. I run my business, I make appointments for the day so I know where I am going to be once I come out of my tree, and plan them so I can be back in it at a decent hour. Knock the Blackberry if you would like, but without it I would not be able to afford to hunt.
If I only hunted a couple times a week do to other obligations I would leave it home, or simply turned off.
The best part is that I hunt for a living, so when I do come down I am just going to someone else's property with a rifle and a uniform instead of my bow.
