I recently bought a Tikka T3 Rifle, and I like it alot, except for the price of a extra Magazine. They are ridiculously expensive. I am looking for a 5 round extended one that fits a 30/06, and the cheapest I have found them in a store is almost $100 plus tax!!!! Thats the most expensive piece of plastic in the world. Is this a normal price? Anyone know the cheapest place to get a Tikka Mag?

I had a 5 shot mag for a .308 Tikka one time. Hated it. Hangs down and is awkward while carrying the rifle.

I paid that for a plastic magazine (5rnd) for my Sako Fin Fire several years back.
so as for the most expensive piece of plastic I think I an one up on you.
So, aside from my experience I may suggest buy them now when you can finds them because they will either not soon be available or the price will go up and then they will have diss-appeared by the time you find the cheaper one you are looking for.

That is my only isse with Tikka/Sako rifles. Their plastic magazines are expensive. Otherwise they are a great gun. I wonder how long it is before someone (i.e. Butler Creek) makes a cheap Chinese knock-off?

buy them when you can find them, if not any retailer that sells the rifles can order them if they so desire. Battle River in stettler AB has a good selection of Tikka Mags. google them and ask.

I was afraid that might be the case. Maybe I'll stick with the 3-shot...

Just not natural for a hunting rig. If it was only for target, would not be so bad...

Yeah, hunting is the only time I use a mag in the first place, so if the 5-rounder makes handling the rifle awkward (and it would, since I often carry my rifle with my hand under the belly of the rifle, just in front of the trigger guard), then I'd rather have 3 shots and a handy rifle.

Maybe if I was going to do nothing but stand hunting, then it would be useful. It would be particularily handy for stand hunting when the quarry is coyotes or hogs, or something else where you want to kill as many as you can at one time.
