After acquiring an Inglis Hi-Power, I've become interested in learning more about this design.

Any thoughts on the pros and cons of the various versions of the Hi-Power?

BHP MkIII

I am partial to the BHP MkIII so much so that it is my only 'double stack' 9mm. Over the years I have owned Berettas, S&W's of various generations and the CZ pistols. I've settled on the BHP. I like mine so much I also added one in .40 S&W, too.

The Mark III looks like a simple, functional pistol, great for use at the range. In what ways is it superior to or different from the older ones? I've heard about the ambi safety, a non-pinch grip, and cast instead of forged.

After looking at a few of these lately, I'm also wondering how one can tell a high-round count or over-the-hill BHP from one with lots of life left in it? It's pretty easy with a revolver, but I don't know much about these semi-autos.
