Beretta 92 questions

Beretta Bound

I've owned a Beretta 96D .40 S&W (DAO), an M9 (DA/SA) and I now have a 92FS Inox. All were/are superb pistols. Buy the Italian made 92FS as the American made one has plastic parts, including the trigger. Not saying this is a bad thing, just you get what you pay for. Good shooting!

I love my Beretta 92fs Italian made. it is very reliable but shop around as once you add shipping costs it may be cheaper to buy local.

Have you thought about the PX4?

Woe to those who purchase polymer-based pistols:

"In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was the pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck about with my disciple John's design, for it is good and it worketh. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain.

"And shouldst thou muck about with it and hang all manner of foul implements upon it, and profane its internal parts, thou shalt surely have malfunctions, and in the midst of battle thou shalt surely come to harm."

"Seeing the malfunctions and the confusion of men the lord of the underworld did see an opportunity to further ensnare man and didst bring forth pistols made of plastic, whose form was such that they looked and felt like a brick, yet the eyes of man being clouded, they were consumed by the plastic pistol and did buy vast quantities of them."

Praise be to God :)

In my humble opinion, the Beretta 92fs is one of many classic handguns everyone should own. It is truly a beautiful piece to look at, is has well proven safety records, it is fun to use and its comes with a bit of history and a lot of great stories. Although you may look at other guns later, you will not regret your purchase.

It is the first pistol I bought. Many others followed in all kinds of calibers but still, the 92fs gives me great pleasure every time I bring it to the range. And as a bonus, it is reasonably cheap to feed: just compare the cost of 1000 rounds in 9mm, .40 and .045 and you will know what I mean.

Fun fact is that every time I bring guests to the range to introduce them to handguns and try various pistols, the Beretta 92fs is often the crowd pleaser.

Welcome aboard from another newbe and have fun with your new toy.

I've got over 1,400 rounds through my PX4 plastic gun and zero malfunctions so far.

"But man, being stupid, did not understand these new pistols and did proceed to shoot them-selves with the plastic pistol, and with the trigger cocking pistols for lo their manual of arms required great intelligence which man had long since forsaken. Yet man continued to gloat over these new pistols blaming evil forces for the negligent discharges which they themselves had committed."

"And when man had been totally ensnared with plastic pistol, the lord of the underworld didst cause a plague of the terrible Ka-BOOM to descend upon man and the plastic pistols delivered their retribution upon men. And there was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth in the land."

"Then seeing that the eyes of man were slowly being opened and that man was truly sorrowful for his sinful misdeeds, the Lord did send his messengers in the form of artisans who did hear and obey the teachings of the prophet and who didst restore the profaned 1911s to their proper configuration, and lo, to the amazement of men they didst begin to work as the Prophet had intended."

"And the men of the land didst drive out the charlatans and profaners from the land, and there was joy and peace in the land, except for the evil sprits which tried occasionally to prey on the men and women of the land, and who were sent to the place of eternal damnation by the followers of John."

Amen

Lol, good one. However:

"Bond: That looks like a woman's gun.
Largo: Do you know a lot about guns, Mr. Bond?
Bond: No, but I know a little about women."
- from the movie Thunderball

"The 1911 pistol remains the service pistol of choice in the eyes of those who understand the problem. Back when we audited the FBI academy in 1947, I was told that I ought not to use my pistol in their training program because it was not fair. Maybe the first thing one should demand of his sidearm is that it be unfair."
- LtCol. Jeff Cooper as quoted in Guns & Ammo magazine, January 2002

I like the movie "The Matirx" and Neo is using Poly pistols when he enters the lobby of the building all dressed up in black and goes trough the metal dedector. =). I've never tryed a 1911 pistol, but i promise that when I have a chance i'll try one :)
