They sell for $2800 in the Phillipines.
Couldnt a government agency buy the real thing either a MP5 or a UMP for far less than that? I thought UMPs were like $1500 when sold to government agencies?

I have 10 Philipinos working for me right now. They have told me that an individual is only allowed to own 1 handgun, and that is for personal defence. However in the same sentence they say, Everyone owns the 1 handgun they are allowed and 2 or 3 more that the goverment doesnt know about.
Needless to say, they all own handguns and were great tag a longs when we hit the gun shows up in the states a few months ago.
It is a fine way to spend $$ on ammo. Especially when you aren't paying for it.![]()
The patents (if any) expired long ago and are no longer in affect. They last no longer that 25 years. As for the coca-cola name, that is a trademark, and lasts as long as it is used. Very different things.
Now if Norc called their gun the MP5, then you would have a point.
different circle of friends.I'm more surprised given the existing number of licensed producers of the MP5.
Greece
Turkey
Iran
Pakistan
Sudan
Saudi Arabia
Mexico
UK
Then and again, I guess Norinco just offered a better deal
