Can anyone provide some insight on a new Norinco M4 that is ejecting almost straight back (approx 5:30)?

Details:

- brand new
- using steel case ammo, two different mags
- no mods to internals
- cleaned and well lubed
- no other problems (F2F, F2E, etc)

I found an image that suggests this may be because of short stroking, but that doesn't make sense to me given it has no other symptoms.

Any thoughts? It wouldn't be that big a deal except I'm a lefty and thus far have had to dig two very warm casings out of my collar.

BTW - other than this weirdness, this is a great gun for the price!!!

The gun is functioning perfectly...just as it was designed...for a right handed shooter.

If you are having issues, order up a 'leftie' AR from Stag Arms...

All he needs is the Leftie upper and bolt assy, phone Walter at Armseast he maybe able to hook you up.

maybe cut a couple of coils off your ejector spring

I won't cut any spring myself, espeically when the rifle is working.

Actually, I will never ever cut any spring even if the rifle is not working -parts need to be replaced when parts that are up to spec.

Just wear one of these. It will protect your delicate neck and you'll look damn good too....

Facetious replies aside, I would also recommend cutting the ejector spring.

I'm a lefty and I own an AR180B. It used to eject straight back, but the brass didn't usually hit my face. Instead the brass hit the rear of the port, making a nice gouge in the brass. I didn't think it ideal to try reloading brass like that, so I searched for a solution. Both other AR180B shooters and Armalite recommended cutting some coils from the ejector spring, which worked for me. However, before I did it I made sure I had a couple backup springs just in case I screwed something up.
