Who uses a UTV for hunting?

I hear people say this all the time, MOST have no experience with utv's in the bush or couldn't drive a stick up a dead dogs arse.

Almost an time a tight spot is found in a trail it can be went around, also the prowler has more ground clearence than most quads, and seeing as it is wider and longer it finds traction sooner when in a mud hole than a quad, the last trip i went on every quad got stuck "every single quad got stuck" one a kawi brute force 750 blew its transmission, the prowler drug the dead quad through all the same holes the quads were getting stuck in and NEVER GOT STUCK.

So yes if you drive like a nancy they will not go where a quad will, but if you grow a set and learn how to drive they will beat a quad about 80% of the time.

wow...you must be high or something. to say that something that big and heavy can go places where an ATV cant is totally ridiculous. we go on 2 poker runs a year and see a lot of UTV's show up. we also help a lot of them get out of the mud or trails that are simply too tight. there are times when the skilled/crazy guys in UTV's can keep up with the ATV's, but they never do better. its not very often you see a guy bring out his UTV and leave the ATV home.

id put my ownership on the line any time against someone in a prowler wishing to get from point to point through thick bush and deep mud faster than me on an ATV.

sounds like you need to bring your prowler and come ride with our group...should give ya a reality check :D;)

I agree with 312. Tried to keep up with those Bombardier quads with a sxs. Not a chance.
Told my buddy who has a Teryx, well when I get posied up front to rear, there will be a whoopum. Should do the run in about -30 or so. Little Sunzuki will do sum buttkick'in.
I do have to agree the side by sides are nice, but the ground clearance sucks badly.

We took a AC Prowler to moose camp this year, and while it is nice for hauling gear and people around it failoed to impress otherwise. What I really want out of my atv is the ability to get into really tight places and get my animal out. The prowler is just too long,to wide and turn too poorly to be very useful in that situation. If your lucky enough to have your moose fall in the cutline,by all means bring out the UTV,other wise I still think the smaller atv's,particularily the midsize 350-500cc stuff is the ticket. I would be quite content with a Honda 350,knowing that if need be I can move it around by hand to get it through some rough stuff.

I have had a quad for years, and my buddies all had there bikes. Yes the bikes where a lot faster but I never worried about keeping up to them. I was the one with the spare gas and cooler filled with beer. Utv's my be slower then quads, who cares when your out there hunting or sight seeing. One may have more ground clearance then the other, who cares, go around it.

As for choosing an atv or an utv, that's up to the individual who is deciding. What are you going to be using it for and what will best soot your needs. When I bought my quad they didn't have UTV's. If I was to do it again I would get the UTV. As per what brand Its hard to say, need a little more research into them. As it stand now I am leaning towards the Artic Cat line. Also finding the idea of a tracker more to my liking as I get older and the bones get colder.
