Krylon (Can Tire) paint removal from USGI M14 Stock

Krylon remover

Just painted a mack engine I overhauled with krylon then had to clean up a spot and used regular brake kleen (the flammable type) and after softening it up with it seemed to remove it quite well.Thanks--Dieseldog!:ar15:

:agree:
Then allow a couple of day's to dry then sand smooth & you should be good to go. Or better yet contact Murdoc and get him to re-finish it for ya with that hard as nail's Arma-Coat. Well worth the time & money in my eye's & I am a painter by trade.

Not to hijack (Sorry Barney), but how the heck do you get Arma-Coat off?

I just returned from the basement. The Goof Off works really well. I might have to wait until the weekend to do the paint removal outside in the garage... fumes might be intense down the basement.

I will try some :

* Paint thinner
* Aerosol Brake cleaner
* Acetone

Then I will get back to all of you. :D

Cheers,
Barney

Okay, it's all done!

I started out with my (I stole it from my wife's hobby shelf; yuk yuk yuk :evil: ) wife can of Circa 1850. Man does that :D stuff ever work well! Not much needed to raise the Krylon for immediate wiping with paper towel. The stuff does not really kill your nose sensitivities too.

Then like a fool, I tried some Paint Thinner... Epic FAIL ! :( What a dummy I was. I let everything evaporate and then put the Paint Thinner back on shelf. :)

I kept on working with the Circa1850 and I'm so impressed with it. I'm now down to the bare fiberglass of the USGI stock. Life is good! :D

Cheers all!

Barney
