Slavia 630

The Slavia series of air rifles are one the greatest bargains for an accurate low to medium powered air gun..If you take a under 500 fps rifle and modify it to a higher velocity it must be registered as a firearm..the US versions of this rifle can hit over 600 fps..You need special tools to open one of these actions up and it can be dangerous to release that mainspring without a spring compressor..Special silicon spring grease and a new stronger spring could do the job...I recommend the Canadian air gun forum sponsors to purchase these items.
 
I have one.I got this rifle to learn and now to practice proper trigger pull,my brothers also love it when i take it camping.
Very well done,very accurate by my standards,it handles,operates and looks great.
For what I need (paper)fps is just perfect.

They are fine the way they are, a well made airgun.
Maccari made a spacer to tame its firing cycle. These needed a spring tool to install, and worked quite well at getting rid of the twang.
This aided in the accuracy department and gave it US specs for power. KD
 
I'm sorry If I get off topic a bit but I don't recall ever seeing a Slavia 630. I have my Dads Slavia 620 and I have seen a the 618 models years ago but they are quite a bit smaller. that 620 killed too many things for me to want to remember.

it is more than accurate for me and I;ll never part with it. I also have a Slavia break action pistol in the basement and it is near mint condition . it has this large metal knob at the back of the reciever and I have never been able to figgure out what it does. I also have a Crossman semiauto pistol still in the box. I think it;s a model 600?? it takes the air cylinders and I can;t remember if it's 22 or 177. I think it;s 22 cal.

some guy at a gunshow told me it is;nt worth anything because the seals dry out. and ya he was intrested in buying it . he did'nt get it though . anyways you guys have a great weekend . if your intrested in seeing photos of the Slavia pistol let me know.
 
I haven't owned an Airgun since I was a little critter.Dont want to break the bank, simple break barrel. Already owning 2 other CZ rifles.. think it would be a nice addition... Cause I know they make a good product.
 
You don't need a spring compressor for a 630 or 631 and they can easily be boosted to 625fps with a lube /polish and new mainspring.My son's 630 is very accurate and drops crows and grouse with one shot ..........even body shots.................25-30 yards......Harold

I was curious to know.. as the original rifle is somewhere in that FPS mark... and 495 here in Kanada.... Is 495fps enough in this rifle?

495fps is not enough except for target practice..My little Webley tempest pistol puts out about 500 fps and I wouldn't shoot anything bigger than a mouse with it.My Weirhauch HW80 puts out about 900 fps and it is good for Rats and Squirrels.The 630 Slavia is still a very good air rifle for the money, but isn't up to the standards of their powder burners.They are fun and easy to shoot all day..My Weirhauch will wear you arm off cocking that beast more than a hundred times.Higher powered airguns are also hard to shoot accurately because of their recoil and spring twang.If you have a few more dollars to spend a Weirauch HW30s is a lot more rifle than the Slavia for just a little more money. http://www.weihrauch-sport.de/bilder/b_produkte/b_standardluftgewehre/original/HW30.jpg
 
I used to sell Slavia 630-s and 631-s back in the 80's. Both models are identical except for the stock. They are very well made, accurate and reliable rifles. Great for rabbit and grouse hunting. (People in Europe still use the Slavia for pheasant hunting.) I would not hesitate to buy one but AFAIK, they're discontinued.
 
I have a 631 LUX unfortunately the scope had been old separately by the unscrupulous store owner. I can still see the feint marks on the tube where the rings were tightened down. Its a nice little gun and makes quick work of starlings and the like. And yes you can upgrade the FPS but it will never be a high powered air rifle.....I find that too bad actually since Cz make such nice guns. I polished my piston,molly lubed it and shimed the trigger and modified the weight adjuster. I also epoxy pillar bed the gun just the same.
 
When I bought mine in the early 90's they were rated at 550 fps IIRC. Was a great rifle. Outshot any of my friends rifles without breaking a sweat.
 
i bought one at canadian tire back when i was 13(i'm 35 now) and it was the best airgun i had so far,precision was nice and powerful enough for shooting doves at 30-40 feets in the barn.if i have to buy another airgun now it will definetly be a slavia 630.

If it's the design I think it is, it holds the spring and piston assembly in the receiver.
Be careful unscrewing it because of the load on the spring, sometimes the springs are tired and there's no load,
and sometimes there's enough to tear the last couple of threads off the receiver. KD
