Well, with recent success with my 20 gauge on small game, I wished to take out the 10/22 and harvest a few bunnies with 22 fodder.
This was a very late afternoon hunt. I arrive and load up my Ruger and glance through the scope. Oops, looks like a bit of road dust in the air still, kind of hard to see through it. No matter, I turn the varible Burris down to 2 power (2-7) and sling the carbine and carry on down the forested trail. Twenty five or thirty minutes later and there are one, two, three, four bunnies on the seismo trail cut in the forest. Distances from 55-114 yards. I get down into position and prepare to shoot with a sling wrap from the prone.
Hell! Looks like London's fog through there!!!

Curse to myself, as I set down the rifle & watch the lucky rabbits playing through the Leica 1200 CRF.

Head back to the vehicle. It's now much too late to get the shotgun, and I count another 7 rabbits as I'm leaving this area.

PS: I did have, 3 years of trouble-free service from the last repair by Savy Optics, the Burris Repair facility in Colorado. The second failure was loose reticles, after about 200 rounds of rimfire. The first failure, the same issue was 50 rounds of use before the crosshairs came loose.

Guess a brand-new-to-me Leupold is my next purchase.

Sad to hear yours let you down.
I have a 5 year-old Burris FF-2 that mostly gets used for load development, anywhere from .223 to .300wsm never a problem with it. Pretty clear glass to boot!

I just don't get it. I have two friends with Burris optics on thier varmint rifles, and they have no problems whatsoever.
This is the second Burris scope I've had greif with Sun & Steel. But at least, I did get a few years gopher shooting out of it.

Guess I'm just a magnet for lemons..........:(

Give me a weekend alone with a bushnel and I'll break it.

Me too, and I have 2 older high end Bushnells that have already crapped out. One of them (a Scopechief VI) I wouldn't mind getting a jobber somewhere to fix, but it seems to be beyond Busnell repair service's technical ability.
I think the company is more interested in selling spotting scopes and binoculars to bird watchers and peepers than providing good service to evil hunters; up to 6 months to get a "sorry we can't help" message back from them.

I have four Burris scopes - two Fullfield originals that I bought 30 years ago and two Fullfield IIs that I bought two years ago. I have not had any problem with any of them. I have several Tasco's of differnt models monted on 22s to a 308 that I have used for 15+ years with no problems. I have several Bushnell models mounted on 17 HMR to 30-06 with no problems. I have three Weavers and the only one I have a problem with is a 35 yr old 1.5-6 where the reticle turns when I turn the power ring so it's on the shelf. One day I will send it for repair as it was a great scope until this problem!! All that to say that I think it's time for you to invest in a new scope. Several of my friends have started to use the Bushnell 3200 or 4200 scopes on all their hunting rifles and have experienced no problems. Try a Tasco Pronghorn or World Class - price is right and they do last!! Good luck with whatever you get!!

Burris Fullfields II's are the best budget scope out there. I could scan the forum here and find problems that someone has had with every scope.
Of my Fullfields, Ive owned numerous, I have never had a problem. My current 3-9x40 is on my 300 wsm and gets pounded on weekly at the range, Reticle is 100% and glass is clear.

Cheers!!

Scott!! Quite right!! I have one on a Ruger in 280 Rem and one of a 700 SPS in 30-06!! Both get lots of use and there haven't been any problems!! For $250 from Prairie Guntraders you can't beat the deal!! How's hunting so far this year??

I also agree.

My FF2 bought 3 years ago has never missed a beat. Accurate out to 500-600 yards.

I have compared it to similarly priced Nikons, Bushnell and Leupolds and the Burris was brighter and clearer than than the Nikon and the Bushnell 3200 and as good as the Leupold.

For the money it is one hell of a scope.

Well, I found out on my caribou this fall that my FFII has the reticule floating all over the place! Confirmed on paper earlier this week.

I had mounted it to use during load development with some Matrix bullets, and just left it on the rifle. Apparently less than thirty rounds of 9.3X62 was just too much for it.

The Leupold 3X goes back on, and the Burris goes out for repair. Anyone know if they have a depot in Canada?

AFAIK, they never had a depot in Canada. The facility I once used in the past was Savy Optics in Greely, Colorado. With the newest State Department ruling of 2007, IIRC it's a repair depot in Finland for Burris scopes owned by non-USA citizens. The Burris Optics website gives the details.

I wish I was wrong on this, but I'm 99% sure this is true.......

+2 on the Fullfield II. I have one from 5 years ago mounted on a 300WM and another one I bought last year on a 22LR. No problems with either, and glass is as good as a Leupold. The ballistic plex came in handy eradicating a couple squirrels with the .22 today! Last one was bought for $180 new at a retail shop on sale! :dancingbanana:

I have two of the Burris FFII 3-9x scopes. Very good glass, and I really like the ballistic plex reticle. I haven't had any problems with them. So far they are a great buy for a very good simple scope. You can get them for $200 brand new.

I'm personally not a fan of the Bushnell Elite scopes. The 4200 was the only one I would even consider. The glass is as good as the Burris Fullfield II however the price was higher and I hated the reticle choices. If Bushnell gets some decent reticle choices then maybe I'd consider one. But even then I'll probably find I can justify paying the bit extra for the next level of optic.
