In general yes. But you haven't lived till you have fired an open bolt subgun suppressed. They beat the MP5SD hands down.

I do like the MP5. It seems to be the best thought out package. My beef with it is it isn't very quiet and the barrel has been overly ported to reduce velocity. It wasn't designed to use 147gr subsonic and hasn't been updated with more modern technology.

Lots of people think the old open bolt stuff isn't any good when the truth is they can be incredibly quiet.

I got to play with a S&W 76 and an AC556 on the weekend and a strange thing happened. I like the Ruger better than the 76. Generally I think the Mini14 platform is CRAP but the little AC was lots of fun to pound rounds downrange with. It is nice and controllable up to 3 or 4 round bursts and it is easy to keep the bursts short and precise. I was ringing a 50 yard gong consistently through each burst.

I agree on the velocity stuff with the MP5. I like the K model with a sup on the end. (I think its the K at least). But the SD is just a sweet package. Has anyone ever rebuilt one with a longer barrel without the ports and then integral sup on top? Same overall size and look?
