CZ VZ58 SPORTER or NORINCO M4? Help Me!!

Both are Great. Do you like AK or AR style rifles?

I prefer the ergonomics of an AR and the appearance

The AK is a workhorse.

The AR is a pretty lady that is high maintenance buy hey shes pretty. Trophy Wife of rifles.

AK is the average looking wife who does the dishes, cleans the house and does a good job at it.

That is how I would sum them up.

I like them both but went with an M4

I would definitely say its an AK variant and built of the AK platform, the internals may be different the the look is the same. He was mentioning style of rifle and the cz858 would be considered an ak style of rifle. Nice chime in though

Come on. "AK variant", "of the AK platform"?

Good thing you don't work for the RCMP.

Question for the OP:

Do you shoot mostly at a CFO approved range, or do you go out into the bush/coulees/gravel pits/gopher fields?

If you shoot mostly at the range, I'd go with the Norinco, because (thanks to some idiots back in the early 90's) it's the only place you CAN legally shoot it.

If you shoot mostly off a range, I'd go with the CSA sporter in .223 with the 18.75" barrel because it's non-restricted.

I think you'd be happy with either one, depending on where you spend the majority of your shooting time.

built of the AK platform ? and the rcmp lab failed to see that and thats why we are allowed to own them. OK , you keep believing that .

Your powers of observation leaves much to be desired. Internals are not the only thing that's different. Look at the receiver, bolt, bolt cover, and safety selector. Then watch them in action. Only the media indoctrined would say they look the same. Like the way a pistol grip Mini 14 is an M16 assault rifle and modern hunting rifles like the Remington 700 are not military rifles (M24 & M40). Oh yea, nice chime in, though.

To be productive to the OP: M4 if range only, but SA VZ58 if for range and field or just field.

Never mind the fact that uses a completely different operating system and has no interchangeable parts. I fail to see how something so fundamentally different can legitimately be considered a "variant".

what I'm getting at is if there was no AK invented there would be no CZ 858 period. I don't care how well you know rifles/guns/assault rifles its pretty stupid to say they don't look very similar, thats all cou:
I would go with the M4 I just tasted the AR coolaid and love it.

WOW... Don't even know what to say to that one.

My time will be split between range and the Farm. All my handgun shooting takes pace at the range so that is the only reason I really go to the there! But if I get the M4 then I have another reason to go as well.

If you get a non-restricted CSA you'll be able to use it on pests at the farm, if you get a Norc M4 you won't.

As far as the AK/Vz thing goes, the Vz is a better rifle (perhaps not a better weapon, but definitely a better rifle) than the AK. It handles better and is more accurate, while being pretty much equally reliable in civillian use. I've owned AK's and we're really not missing much.

Sometimes times its better not to speak at all? Are you one of those who will keep on posting to prove a point that is not in our benefit? Retarded imho...

of CZ site

While the appearance of the VZ 58 looks similar to the AK-47, it was inspired by the German StG 44 and initial development was actually based on the 7.92 x 33. Mechanically, the VZ 58 is completely different from the AK-47, and no parts including magazines are interchangeable.

nub on the history side are you Flux! STG 44 if never existed, ak47 would never be reality.

I do enjoy mine allot and having the availability to shoot outside the range is a plus, maybe its because i already own one i like my AR better now.
