I have a russian sks and would like to modernize the stock, where would be a good place to find a new durable stock? id like to keep the bayonet

Elewood epps has stocks for sks, as well as Marstar i think and probably a dozen other dealers at the top of the page. Check with those boys first.

Lots of different stocks, do some googling. Remember that you get what you pay for though. I have a cheap folding ATI stock, and it is definitely built cheap, but I also got the gun for cheap so I'm happy with a cheap stock

Check out the Tapco stocks if you want an M4-style collapsible buttstock. I've got one on my Tula '54 and it works great (the only problem was, and still is :p, getting the wood handguard off the gas tube. It's still there, but I don't give a damn)

I got mine form Fabsports, a CGN sponsor - see up top.

Why can't you get the handguard off? There's just one pin and it comes off, nice and easy. Mine's a '54 Tula as well so if I can do it so can you

I tried, oh, how I tried. That damned pin just wouldn't move, even after using a hammer and punch, with some machine oil to loosen it up. I gave up because I didn't want to bend the tube or mounting bracket for the handguard.

Well it only goes out from one side, I learned that the hard way. I just used a small nail and hammer, worked the tits once I figured out which side it came out. If it's being really stubborn just get some heavy duty automotive grade penetrating oil, that and some heat should make that baby slide out like butter. I've dealt with awfully stubborn fasteners in the past, I know for a fact where there's a will there's a way...wood handguards on aftermarket stocks just look terrible
