Just a "heads up" any of you fellow owners out there looking for spare mags. I just picked up 8 extra mags for myself and Ellwood Epps has alot more in stock $28.99 each. Each mag worked flawlessly in each of my two guns.

Just an F.Y.I. for anyone looking for spare mags.:)

Yeah, looks like the importer finally got their shipment of spare mags in! Picked up a few at The Shooting Edge in Calgary the other day, $28 each. It is nice to finally have some spares.

anyone try converting one of these to .45? i was reading something and it said you could convert it to full caliber if you wanted too?

 I haven't tried it, and wouldn't recommend it, but I suppose with a bit of ingenuity you could - but probably shouldn't... You would need a complete slide/barrel in .45 for starters. There's no way you could use the GSG slide for the purpose. Then you would need to do a bit of work to fit a proper ejector to the frame of the GSG. You will also need some mags in .45 ACP. The GSG frame will take the mags, and the slide stop pin should probably line up ok with the barrel link... BUT that gun is not designed to take the abuse of firing .45ACP ammo. I don't know how many rounds you could get off before serious problems start to develop.

The GSG was designed from the ground up as a purpose-built .22 LR gun that would take most aftermarket 1911 parts to improve ergonomics and function for shooters... It was never designed to take a center-fire conversion kit.

thats what i was thinking but on THR and a review from shot show i saw they said it was designed to be able to do both

There was talk & speculation before they arrived in Canada that they could be converted to a .45. But GSG states that the gun is 80% interchangeable with 1911 parts but it is not designed to be converted to a centrefire.
But the entire .22 top end is supposed to go onto another 1911 frame as a conversion kit. Ihope so because mine is on the way to me.

I think the frame on these pistols is zinc alloy, which definitely wouldn't be suitable for .45 ACP.

NAA.

I just received my GSG in the mail today. Very nice.

I have already made one change , that being to replace the grip screws with SS. ( Nothing wrong with the stock ones but I like SS ). I had already seen a post that the grip screws & grip screw bushings were not interchangeable with a 1911.

But I had waiting for the GSG a set of 1911 grip screw bushings and screws. Most important I had bought from the U.S. a tap to rethread the frame for the 1911 bushings.
10 minutes later my GSG now has 1911 S.S. grip screws & bushings.
BTW. The GSG grips fit just fine.

Next. Get rid of the mag safety. I don't like them.
