Frontenac IDPA Fall match Oct 30th

Classifier was fun today. It was nice to see the weather hold up even though there was that early morning breeze that kept things fresh (more like friggin freezing) but once the sun came up over the berm it warmed up. Anxious to see how I did. No rush 6gm6 but don't take too long hahaha!

If everyone who was on A3 could check their range bags one of the SO's score sheets was not turned in.

Oh and Jacko welcome to CDP Marksman.

Thanks for all the hard work Geoff - todays qualifier ran like clock work. The fact that 12 people went through and we were done by 1230 shows you had a strong plan.

And uhh...your time with a revolver was better than some of us with a semi:eek:!

had a great time today, thank you Geoff! still a bit shocked that it is possible to miss 5 shots out of 9 from a 7 yard line.. i will blame it on the timer sound which makes my finger trigger happy.. too happy.. LOL! looking forward to my first match on the 30th..

Next time we won't make you shoot the moving targets :D

Here comes a noob question , how does the time get tallied to reflect your standing ie difference between novice and marksmen etc did my 1st stage by 15 seconds make me class as novice or does everyone whos new start as novice ?

Your ranking is determined by what you scored shooting the Classifier. Those who have not shot the Classifier are Unclassified and are normally classified that way for matches.

For the differentials in the various Classifications for the various divisions refer to page 70 of the IDPA rule book. In IDPA you almost never go down in Classification. The only way I know of is to suffer a severe permanent medical problem.

Take Care

Bob

LOL 4 seconds .... that would be that procedural i got and that damn holster issue on stage 1 lol .. thats impressive though i thought i did alot worse than that ..

I found it really hard to not let that timer though throw my focus off . Was alot of fun though and hopefully have just as much fun at the match on the 30th .

KC, your total scores for the three stages are combined together to give you an overall for the Match. Here is a link to how the times break down http://www.idpa.com/classify.asp you can also find them on page 70 of your rule book. If your combined score is higher then the Marksman score for the Division you are being classified in you are listed as a Novice. If its lower, then Sharpshooter, then Expert, then Master and I'll stop there because it's only rumor from there on in right Bob ;)

Novice isn't a bad thing, its a new thing (new to the sport, new firearm, new optic... I kid, I kid). Just like what we talked about it takes practice and that is more than just range time. Add a little dry fire, holster drills, mag changes in the bedroom (curtains drawn of course) ....

Keep in mind you did just fine, the more time you spend with us the more you will get to know your firearm, you'll get your sight picture quicker.

One thing though I would say you need a new holster. I don't know if you spoke to 1topgun he was running and M&P like yourself and he has a less expensive fobus holster and he did well.

Ahhh... curtains drawn.. um ive been doing them out in the open while rolling over my picnic table yelling "get to the choppa" ... i knew i was doing something wrong lol .

and im not worried or upset about where i placed remember i keep the "fun" mindset im not letting scores or anything get me down lol its just funny that i was off by 5 seconds and amazed that i did that well for my first classifier . and yes i spoke with the other gentleman about his holster and im sold , i want the same one but fobus's site says out of stock right now , but im also checking out the bladetech idpa pack for about 80.00 bucks . so hopefully by the next match ill have a new holster but wont have one by the 30th .

If we aren't squadded together you can try my Bladetech kit if you want. It's pretty much the same as the IDPA pak just without the cool packages. I really like the holster.

Kc338,
regarding holsters check eBay and once in source fobus holsters as they have a link to buy them direct from israel. 6gm6 got his at a much better price than my order from the states . And it came quick. The m&p combined with the fobus has been the best combo I have used and I have been shooting twenty years plus. You shot very well at the qualifier. Get out with our Saturday shoots and you will get lots of practice fast . Pm me if you want to talk more about holsters. You can also borrow mine on oct 30 to see if you like it.

Look at that he makes sharpshooter and he thinks he doesn't need a holster any more :D

6gm6,
I offered to get rid of my things before you found my score sheet ...i thought it was all over.....I think maybe I might need my holster afterall. Thanks for making up a score for me...hehe...but you could have made me a Jedi master! KC338 - the offer is still out there - try the holster if you wish to see if it is for you.
