Well, I'll tell you a rather long winded story about a T3 I had and the rifle that replaced it. I bought a Tikka Varmint in .222 rem. and tweaked the trigger, and started load development with an eye to using it to test .22 cal. cast bullets. I worked up the most accurate jacketed load I could, to use as a baseline, for my cast bullets, which I prefer to use. The best J-word load was about 1/2" at 100 and cast loads went 1 1/4" all after many sessions reloading and at the range. I wasn't happy and traded it pdq. I ordered a CPA single shot in .218 Mashburn Bee, which is more my kind of gun,all dolled up with fancy wood 1/2 octagon Badger Barrel, double set trigger, etc. I loaded up some arbitrary loads both Jacketed and cast, at this point I was only interested in fireforming to the Mashburn chamber. Lo and behold, my first groups blew everything the Tikka shot, right out of the water, I had to shake my head and look at the one hole groups w/j-word bullets, and nice 5/8" groups with cast, and it's only got better since!
So my learned friends, I'm here to tell ya', with everyone handing out the Tikka Koolaid, I ain't dranking any of it!!!!
