I already own a Beretta 9mm but am eyeing up a Colt 1911. I need to trade in the Beretta if I am to get the 1911. I have never owned a .45 and I am wondering if anyone has ever done a similar trade and what their experience was on it.

I am sure there are going to be a couple of funny guys posting on the 9mm vs. the .45 and girls guns versus mens guns etc....that is fine too I guess! :D

Oh man, keep the Beretta and get a Norinco or Rock island. Last year I sold my CZ and M9 just because I want a 1911, the money I got from two babies don't even come close to what I want to buy, lesson learned. Nothing wrong to have both cal.

Keep the Beretta, save for a 1911..... ;)

I have both and can't understand part of your question, what is this "trade" thing you talk of? It is alright to own more than one handgun.

Ha for sure it is alright to own more than one!! Problem is (Or, I guess it's not really a problem) that I own 4! I have 2 in 9 mm so I thought maybe it would be best to try another caliber. :D

It is a Glock 17. Not sure I want to part with it at this time. G:

If it was me I'd keep the 9mm that works best for me, sell the other and put the money toward the 1911.

In my case, a Glock 17 works better than a Beretta, as I've had both. So, I'd keep the Glock and put the money towards a good 1911. The STI Spartan comes immediately to mind.

I have a preference for the Glock over the Beretta as well.

Who sells the STI brand? I will look into that.
