Well I am after a 336 for a b-day gift to myself next month...is the "w" model just as good as the other models of the 336? I do not want/need fancy wood as this gun will be used all the time and will get muddy, dropped, straches, ect so all I care about is the quailty of the gun "where it matters"

Bass pro had been selling a scoped model 336 W for only $100 more, ie, $499.

if they still are, AND there's the Marlin rebate, that's not bad either!

Yes, I believe they all use precisely the same barreled receiver.

Double check the pricing at Bass Pro- I learned about the scoped deal a while ago and don't know if it's still on.

Hm... wonder if they have a 'price match' policy regarding the Cabela's deal...
