best lpk?

for a lower? Or for a lower parts kit? DPMS is ok and cheap, however the trigger is just so so. Basically if its a parts kit you just want to make sure you have reasonable quality parts that dont have any fitment issues. Other than the trigger, its just pins and springs with a few other pieces thrown in.

The QC on heat treatment fire control parts is what separate Colt from the others. Also, springs are not the same - I have snapped hammer spring before.

trigger smoothness - who cares if the parts are not heat treated properly or using some other lesser metal?

The best thing is to search the internet and figure out which brand(s) fails the most, as no one really knows the details.

Yeah but is the Colts LPK worth the price? I have bought some Colt parts individually which were cheaper, but some of thier stuff when purchased is really over priced, plus theres the issue about getting a LPK out of the US if its over $100 its a pain in the neck.

Anyone know about the DD kits?
How do the Stag (CMT) kits do?

It is really too bad we don't have a good source for LMT or Colt LPKs in Canada. This is why I generally buy a built lower.

I got a bunch of them from Brownells.

I like the DD kits... Easy to install, last a very long time, nice price point, AND INCLUDES THE MAGPUL TRIGGER GUARD!! That damn Magpul trigger guard just makes things so much nicer when wearing gloves, its very smooth/no rough edges, very comfortable. That stupid trigger guard costs me $15 separately, so it being included is some serious value added.

I dont like the DPMS, Del-ton, Stag kits... They seem to be ok, but they are a little more difficult to install than most other kits.

I dont think the Colt parts kits are worth it.

The colt part kits that I saw at brownell's had some silly screw for the front pin... Do they have a 'standard' full LPK?

What Brownells sells for about $75 isnt a full Colt lower parts kit. Its missing the front take down pin and doesnt have a trigger. If you buy all the Colt parts for the lower kit its like 2 to 3 times the cost of the other brands. Colt prices are all over the place, some of their stuff like carriers are expensive, other things like castle nuts are really cheap.

I wish they would get rid of this stupid commie $100 limit, it makes getting stuff hard. Or if some of the dealers around here would stock more small parts.

Ive got a bunch of small parts from Brownells, DPMS, LMT, Armalite, RRA and Colt. Anybody know who makes the Brownells parts?

but people are telling me they arnt that good.

Based on what?

You can get Stag and RRA LPKs from our sponsors or various brands from Brownells. When I was looking into LPKs, one of our sponsors told me that the DPMS LPK surface parts SEEMED to be of slightly lower hardness.

From personnal experience, I have used RRA and Stag and I haven't had any issues. For my next build I will probably try the High Standard LPK from Brownells.

If you want a nice trigger with you LPK, the RRA with the NM 2-stage trigger is worth looking into. That is the one I used for my DMR build.

So, which are the best? :D

Has anyone come across any tests done on hardness, toughness or composition of the LPK parts as compared to whatever spec exists for them?

I'm sure that someone had enough time on their hands on the US boards to do the testing.

Those are most available in kanuckistan, but still doesn't answer the question as to what is the best LPK in terms of quality.
