Brought my new gsg 1911 in Sept from Badger Arms (all thanks to Armand, great service). Finally got my ATT in and able to bring it to the range this Sunday. Ran thru about 200 rounds Federal 525 bulk ammo. Zero issue except the slide didn't lock back on empty mag in very first two mags but it locks back fine ever since the 3rd mag. Very soft recoil comparing to Ruger .22 I shot before. The trigger is nice. I shot 5 rounds in group from 20 yards to check grouping with hands resting on bench and myself sitting in chair. They're all in 2-3'' groups except a few flyers.

Now is the big "BUT". It shoots 5-6'' high with medium tall front sight installed and 5-6'' low with the tallest front sight installed. I don't know what to do now? It's hard to me to aim high/low to compensate 5-6'' elevation. I don't know if any standard 1911 iron adjustable sight will fit this gun to replace the stock plastics sight? any suggestion?

Quick question about your sight picture....where is the front sight's dot fixed on when you aim? Have you tried not using the dot and just the top of the front sight when you aim? If I remember correctly the dot is situated in the middle of the front sight and not at the top. This could be throwing off a few people because I've read a few comments about the GSG shooting 'high'. All my GSG needed was a little adjustment on the rear sights as it was shooting right....YMMV

I always use the top of the front sight to align the top of the rear sight. like this

They either go across the bulleye or at 6 depend on previous shot goes high or low.

Okay, that's how I sight my GSG as well. Sorry that I can't offer any more ideas/suggestions....

deham, not sure if the Wilson sights would fit. You'd have to get the dimensions of the dovetail on the GSG and contact Wilson Combat to see if they have something that'll fit.

I've attached a link from another forum. See post #50. A fellow there used an adjustable Novak cut rear sight from a SA 1911 on his GSG with some minor filing. Post 44 is from the US importer for GSG....

All the best and I hope you can get it to where you want.

Don't forget that different .22lr ammo will performs differently in each firearm. I shot my GSG 1911 and I simply tried every type of .22lr to find what shoots through it the best. The groupings and point of impact would change with each type of ammo. Also if it shoots high you could always just move the target back more or change the front sight since it comes with 3 different sizes. It depends on the shooter and the ammo that you like to shoot.

Best regards,
Scott

Blue Line is right. my gsg 1911, stigers little low little left, minimags high and left, winchester super speed, high and right. try some different brands of ammo.
