I just got a Winchester 94 in the mail (used) and the lever seems really loose. With the lever open there seems to be a lot of side to side play as well as just seems really easy to start closing the lever compared to my dads. With mine it seems a stiff breeze could close the lever.

Just wonder if this is normal for a '67 Winchester and if not how do I go about fixing it?

The post 64s were looser than the pre 64s. I have heard of people putting shims on each side of the lever where the hinge pin goes through (small thin brass washers) Other than that sort of the nature of the beast unless it i really worn. Another site to ask this on is www.levergunscommunity.com great bunch of people there and lots of knowledge gladly shared. Good luck

I just got a post 64 in the mail, too. Its the same as you describe, drache. I still have not seen another 94 as tight as my 1908 man. 30wcf

You have discovered one of the reasons 94's from 64 to about 72 are regarded as a pile of crap. In my opinion people have a lot of nerve to even charge more than $200 for this vintage of 94's.
