Bulk .223

If you ever truly wanna cry and then sit on a donut cushion due to the anal trauma we are subjected to in Kanada pick up a copy of the US ' Shotgun News '

Back to the original question, whats the best price anyone has seen? So far, my best price i've found retail in Vancouver is $404/1000 lot,55gr.

This .50 cent a round crap for 223 is stupid. All they are doing is boiling the frog....and we are stupid enough to sit there and cook.

Remember when gas went from 40 to 70 to 1.00+ a liter? The freakin sheep in this country now see .99 as a "good deal"

Totally agree and also what the dealers dont realize is they are slowly but surely choking off new shooters getting into the sport/fun of shooting
AR 15`s and every other .223/5.56 gun.

No matter how fun if you cant afford it your not going to play.

As always, if the dealers are getting filthy rich on $0.50/rnd ammo, why don't you start up a business and join them? Do I think that is extortionate? Yes. Do I think the prices are set farther upstream than our retail dealers? Yes.

The last time I remember $0.40/litre gas the price of oil was well under $20/bbl and it is now about $82/bbl last I checked. I'm not saying that oil companies aren't pirates and shouldn't be driven under for their business practices. Just keep in mind that costs on many commodities have gone way up in the last number of years.

That's bad. What's truly ridiculous is $470/1000 for non-reloadable, steel-cased 7.62x39. Is non-corrosive 7.62 that attractive to folks, because it sure isn't to me.

That kind of 7.62 goes for about $200/1000 in the US.

When did the surplus jump to $470/1000? Last I saw it was around $200/1000. Or is this non-corrosive you are speaking of?

It's the steel-cased, non-corrosive MFS ammo I'm referring to.

PRVI Partizan - boxer primed, brass cases worth reloading - $479.99/1000.

Still pricey, but it's a lot better value than the non-reloadable steel-cased stuff.

I figured, but thought I would confirm that. I don't own an SKS (yet), but I would never pay over twice the price simply to avoid corrosive primers. It's simply not that hard to clean a gun.

Another $10 per 1000 to get PRVI brass is a worthwhile deal to me, it reloads fine in my 22-250.

Thanks Jeff , I'm going to be in RD next week , as far as 'decent' gun shops go is it still pretty much the Sportsmans Den and the Canadian Tire on the south hill ????????

Need some affordable 62 grain stuff. Or 62 grain that isn't sold by the case. Gotta make sure it shoots worth a damn before you drop a grand on a couple of cases.

The MFS 62gr is SP. We just got a skid in today and another one is coming next week. We offer it by the box, 240, 500 or 1000 rounds.

Do you reload? I do and I can assure you, you can reload on the cheap for around $200 per 1000 rounds...

Hey beltfed.......
Not meaning to argue but I'd love to know how you do it (I'm just starting to reload 223 and would like to keep my costs down) but according to my rough estimates......
primer $0.03 each (if you're lucky & bought in bulk)
brass $0.10 ea (recycled)
powder $0.12 ea (7000 grains per pound @ approx 25 grains per load = 280 rounds for $30 + tax)
bullet $0.15 ea (or more!)
Works out to $0.40 per round. Even if you don't count the brass it's still $0.30 per round.
Am I missing something ??????? How do I save another $0.10 per round?:confused:

x2...

Those are my costs exactly. 30 cents a round. I would love to know how to get cheaper powders or bullets.

How far are you from the Greyhound depot? At least I now live somewhere closer to the real world...maybe shipping would be more reasonable now.
