so coming up on the time when I have to choose some optics for my build. Its a 14.5" barrel shooting .223.

I have been humming and hawing over an Acog...but ill be honest I can't afford one. So I have found the bushnell "acog" rip off look decent has green and red dot and it 200 bucks.... Thats where I was hoping to keep the price on optics between the 200-350 mark. Anyone one have any suggestions for me?

I plan on shooting 25-100 yards with it. I was thinks no magnification or a very small amount (I cant remember the numeric name).

I've had one on my AR on and off. It holds its zero really well, even after being dismounted a few times. my only compliant is that the sight reticle on mine can be very blurry and fuzzy at times.

The Bushnell thingie has no magnification, so I don't see how it's possible to compare it to the ACOG?

My vote goes to the Millet DMS-1 for a budget carbine optic. I still have mine on one of my M-14's.

well big thanks guys I snagged up the last strikefire they had in stock. I like the red and green dot feature and liked the size of it to...the sparc was nice but I hated that it looks the same as my tasco red dot and the added $ was a deterrent as well. CGN helps again!

Save the money for an aimpoint later on and shoot with irons. Cheap red dots don't last. I've trashed enough to have learned.

Ooops, seen you have already made a decision. Hope it works out for you!

I went with the Sprac on my Beretta Storm in 9MM. Mine worked perfectly but for reasons only the optic gods know the sight became very hard to turn on and off - likely the switch and occassionally went off after a round was fired. I contacted Vortex Canada, told them I had a Halloween Shoot to attend but would send the sight in for warranty work after the match.

Not good enough! Vortex sent me a new sight that day and asked me to return the old sight as it obviously wasn't working right. I received a Postal Tracking # within an hour of my first email. Sight arrived yesterday and is now installed and working great. The sight also came with return packing slip. This company obviously intends to honour the Lifetime Warranty and also wants our business.

Service? You bet. I am very happy with the sight. Co-witnesses just fine on the Storm.

Take Care

Cheap on your wallet and covers both three power magnification and a ring that makes a good choice for a focusing centre as a red dot.

Burris AR332. I think Wolverine has them for around three hundred bucks.
It makes a pretty good all around choice.
