Here is a tip regarding the 'hammer' style bullet puller. Put an 'arrow' type add-on pencil eraser in the bottom end of the puller. Keeps the bullet tip free from deformation, as it catches in the hollow base of the eraser.

Which fitting are you using?

I'm using a 1/8"npt to 1/4" flare fitting. The 1/8npt end has a perfect sized bore to hold the bullet.

I just use the small piece of foam that came with mine


If some guys here can't get the kinetic bullet pullers to work on milsurp rounds, I recommend some midol, perhaps if your ###### isn't hurting, you'll have the strength to get'er done. I wouldn't want to do them by the hundreds, but I've done 30 at a sitting, and it didn't take any longer than I would have expected. If I had hundreds of ANY round I wanted pulled I'd buy a collet, but the hammer will do it all, with a little patience and elbow grease.

Get a collet puller and do it right the first time.

...... and make sure it's made by Hornady, not RCBS. I'ved both and the the Hornady works better.

Never had one (gone through 3) come with a piece of foam. Maybe I bought it before foam was invented.....

Mine was purchased "foamless" as well.
Luckily a wadded up bit of tanned moose hide works just as well.....

Ya mine came with foam in it already when I bought it. It is a Cabelas brand.
