I have developed a weakness for older semi auto shotguns over the last few years. Today, I bought a Winchester Model 50 in 12 guage. Does anybody have anything to share about these shotguns?

I use these old pelters mostly for shooting cute little gophers, just for a change from .22.:p

Yes I have one of these old beauties! Great shot gun, I wish it could handle steel. This is the gun I learned to shoot on, my dad would give me the gun and one shell, and soon I got good enough for one shot one dead duck! Mine will handle any shell I put in it, right from the cheap target loads to the heavy game loads.

I would love to find one in 20 gauge, get the barrel knocked down to about 25" for an upland gun.

I have a few of them and they are the origional Bennelli's. They are the best old semi-auto's made. They have almost no recoil becuase of the spring in the stock. When you take the barrel off you will see that it is seperate from the chamber. When you shoot the gas goes between the barrel and chamber to open the release for the bolt so it will cycle.

I have a 50 in a featherweight version, mine also has a 25 inch barrel and a Poly choke installed, so I could shoot 2 3/4 inch steel if I wanted to. FS
