Hey,

Well I found another one today to add to the collection a 1927 Izhevsk dragoon, SCW from what I can tell. The rifle is a bolt mismatch although the buttplate and magazine match, and the rifle is composed of almost all Izhevsk parts and is NOT Finn'd. Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the talking

For comparison the rifle is shown beside a 1901 Sestroryetsk

The Soviets sent aid to the Spanish in the form of weapons and munitions.

Agreed, most of the rifles sent to Spain stayed in Spain and were not looked after the best but this rifle is not the case. Very nice!

Spanish Civil War. It was the Korean war of its day - communists and fascists alike sent aid and people to fight what was the prelude to something much bigger - WWII.

Over three thousand Canadians volunteered in the spanish civil war. Part of a international brigade along with many American volunteers as well. Canada , France , britain , usa all decided that it wasn't worth getting involved in. Russia sided on one side with italy and germany ( condor legion) helping out the other.


Partialy because they lost and partialy because they communists fought on the same side mamy of those canadians couldnt get back into Canada for a few years. On top of that many a lot of them were blacklisted from joining the military when WW2 broke out
