One of my relatives has a Parker Hale bolt action in 7mm rem mag with scope, and wants me to make an offer on it. I think it's a model 1200C. Monte carlo stock, stainless bolt, gold trigger, drop plate magazine, not detachable. Nice decent condition. Used about 2 dozen times. He's owned it for 30+ years, and feels it's worth a fortune. I disagree, but I'm not sure what it might be worth to offer him. Any ideas?

Thanx

Sold one with det. mag. in 7mm Rem Mag with cheap Bushnell to a buddy 10 years ago for $400.00
Depends if he has a Leupold VX-3 on it. That would bring price up.

When I had the PH Safari in 300 WinMag, I paid $450.00 .
It had bases and rings ( hard to come by) and it had a spare magazine as well.
Even more expensive than rings at the time.
Anyways, it is all dependent on the accessories that may come with it.
Even with a Leupold V-III 700.00 is top dollar .
Then again that is my .02 opinion at this time,
Rob

I've owned a half dozen PH rifles. Paid from $300 to 500. Your brothers gun is $450 without scope, which will add somewhat if it is a decent scope. An old Bushnell or the like will only add about $50 to it, they're just not worth that much used. Just for clarification, the mounts and rings mentioned in the previous post are actual PH pieces, if it has Weaver (most common) or Redfield/Leupold etc, it really adds nothing to the price. FWIW - dan

I have an uncommon 1200V in 6mm Rem in very good condition. It was worth more to me than maybe the typical resale value.

From what I've seen, the PH rifles that go up for sale in the local paper, online classifieds, etc, tend to sell for about $400 on average. My buddy bought a nice one in .25-06 about 5 years ago for $400.

What is the scope and are the rings actual Parker Hale pieces? I have a mint Safari De Luxe in 30-06 (early 1960s vintage) with cheap Weaver bases and a low end Leupold scope on it and I might let it go for about $700 if I wanted to sell, which I never will. I know why he is attached to it, but it's worth what it's worth.

I have a 1200 in 300 win with 2 mags & cheap scope I am asking $450. They are not a fast mover. You may be better off letting him put it up for sale himself & find out what he is offered.

Thanks for all the help. I believe the rings are original PH, and its and old Bushnell BannerII3x-9x

Is there a serial # registry or listing somewhere to determine what the age of this is? I have a virtually identical PH (detachable mag)in .30-06, but traded for it, so not sure on it's pedigree either.

I have a PH determining year has been a pain for me but to find the date you have to remove the stock depending on the year there will be crossed arrows or a circle pre 1940 there will be a letter between the two points that correspond to a year number below is inpector number 1950 to 1970 there will be a letter on the left and right of the crossed arrows that correspond to a year eg. MB=1961 1975 to 1984 will have the letters in a circle then it goes back to the crossed arrows after that. If you have the letters I can look it up on my chart

The end result was the rifle was "given" to my wife, so now we both have PH's! Thumper, I'll have a look for those markings. I'm curious how old both of them are. Thanks for all the feedback.
