Just aquired a Garand, where is best info?

Where do I find the best info on the Garand rifle? I can't even remember how to field strip it. I know you start with the trigger group but I can't figure how to get it out. Is there a good Garand site somewhere?

OP, download this manual, it gives you everything you need for operation/cleaning/detail stripping.

There are several definitive books on the Garand, Scott Duff and Bruce Canfield are two two of the best. Be aware that buying only two books confuses the reader; read six or eight before you appreciate the nuances and differences.

One of the best discussion forums for Garands is jouster dot com. Our own Badger has a pretty good Garand forum too, but it is less well established.

Parts will be your biggest problem. The American collector's market knows what it has and what guys want. Be prepared to pay $$$$ for the privilege of a WRA or SA stamp. If you choose an Italian Breda or Beretta, the parts will be discounted because they aren't USGI, even though they are identical or better.
