shortest effective 12g

Hello I was woondering about something and I needed your expertize.

I was wondering how effective would be a 3.5 and 5.5 inch 12g at range between 1 to 5 yard?

you are probably right my friend but that is not the point.

I'm not sure where this is going but just take a look at the success of the Taurus judge and that gun is in 410! At that range it would more than likely leave a mark or two to say the least! How practical it would be? That I'm not to sure. More than likely very hard to control a 12g with that short of barrel and the flash would more than likely blind everyone. Imho.

I'm thinking 2 inch barrel, with any kind of 2.75inch shotshell. Whole new meaning to the term "Scattergun." Pretty much gonna go in all directions outwards from muzzle.
