Is there any Non-Res "black" rifles under $1000 ??

Just wanted to know if there are any "black" Non restricted rifles out there? I know that a Ruger Mini-14 is one, but are there any other guns that anyone knows of that shoot .223 and are Non restristed?

Its too bad that Norinco does'nt make a Robinson Arms type gun and sell it for $700, like they make a AR-15 and sell it for $700.

You would think that they would look into it, since they made the AR-15, that they would try to make a Non-Restricted, black rifle, that fires .223.
 
would be nice...the type-97 with the non-restricted barrel was as close as they got...but that doesnt look too likely anymore

I was going to suggest that, I have one and I love it. It's not quite as "black" as an AR or a XCR and it definitively shows it's eastern bloc heritage when it comes to ejection (straight up!), mag changes (gotta rock it like an AK) and optics mounting (there is a rail on the left side of the receiver) but those aren't minuses just things to get used to if you're used to an ar-15 like gun. It has a good trigger too IMHO, smooth constant pull until it goes BANG.

I'm not 100% convinced about the stock plastic mags, they are beefy, seem solid and lock up tight though, it might just be because I'm used to AR mags.

There's going to be an adapter to take ar15 mags too.
 
Hey, my first post. I'm a U.S. citizen, but I'll be landing in Canada next weekend. I bought two new Ruger Mini-14 Tacticals. Collapsing ATI stock, pistol grips and flash suppressor on an 18.5 inch barrell.

I've always been a fan of Ruger, and these rifles are great. Less than $700 in the U.S., but I don't know how much in Canada.

Got nothing against the Czech models, but aesthetically and experience wise, I'd go for the Ruger Mini 14 Tactical each and every time.
 
Just bought a CSA VZ 58 last weekend and took it our to the range today. A real sweet gun for sure!

One fail to eject in 140 rounds but in was snowing and blowing pretty hard and about -2....this might have had something to do with it but I am completely stoked on it either way....So much fun to shoot and seemed pretty accurate for the range boards I go with :D

In advance, welcome to Kanada. Just dont expect to stay for long. It will drive you up the wall with all of the Liberal BS that gets shoved in your face everytime you turn your TV on.

Be aware you cannot bring those over the border in their current form.. they will need to be altered to not meet the US specs for "illegal" at the border.. and then they can be changed right back in Canada and be legal as they sit now. (for more info check on the combo of pistol grip and folding stock)
 
Chicagoan, the Ruger website shows that tactical as having a 16-inch barrel. If so, that's going to be a problem...

i KNOW...that got on my last nerve. but there is an 18.5 inch barrell. i can only guess the flash suppressor give the rifle an extra 2.5 inches.

on their website, they only have the tactical with folding stock/pistol grip without the flash hider. frankly, it just LOOKS 'unfinished'.

however, i got my from www.gunsamerica.com on an ad like this:

which of course had my flash suppressor. calling ruger, you'll also get the specs on that. it gets down to what the gun stores in canada get.

i was looking for a ruger mini 30 for same set up; my online gunstore told me ruger made a few, but they've yet to see them.

i just read that they're thinking about banning the ruger mini 14 in canada; as such, i can keep my rifles on the american side.

thanks...and with THIS latest bit of news, i WILL keep my rugers on the u.s. side.

Holy crap!!!!! Snow and it's -2? Here in Toronto were still in the double digits and havn't seen a spec of snow.

I use my 858 in much colder weather than that... works great!
