Best 308 ammo for whitetail?

Hornady TAP in 155 gr or 168gr will do all you need it to on a deer, not sure why everyone likes to hit them in the boiler room the Natives like shooting behing the ear or in the spine. it might be alive when you get to it but at least it drops exactly where you shoot it. give it another quick one in the head and she's all over no meat loss and no chasing the animal for miles.

To elaborate for the people who don't quite understand. Shooting a deer in this area gives a better chance of putting the deer down with one shot. The odds of hitting something that would prove fatal is vastly improved compared to the head or spine shot. I have heard of more than a couple of hunters who shot at the head and ended up blowing a jaw off. The idea of a deer starving to death with no jaw is a little less than ideal to me. And it doesn't really come down to "If you were a better shot you could hit them in the brain every time" because these are deer we are talking about. Deer aren't the most still creatures in this world.
