Places to legally discharge firearms

if it is non restricted then on private property or crownland but first check local bylaw's. If restricted then only on an approved range.

Crown land is Government pwned, not privately. Check local bylaws about discharge on crown land. There should be enough "pits" around the Midland area. Or find a friend with some land. Good luck.

I don't know about Greely but in Ottawa it is illegal to discharge even an air gun (bought over the counter at Canadian Tire) if not at the gun range.

So, there are days when I show up at the gun range (where they KNOW I'm not yet licensed) with my Vanguard Gun Case, locked and padlocked. Then I open it and unlock the trigger lock and pull out.............. a toy (they let me set up the 10meters air targets while the real guns are being used beside me.)

Hey there, I live in Wasaga Beach and as far as I know its a no no to shoot center fire rifles on crown land in Simcoe County. Please correct me if I am wrong cuz I just might be, but I believe the rule was changed a few years ago when a lady was hit by a stray round and killed while walking her dog during deer season. I do know that it is ok to shoot in Dufferin County forests which is just south of me (hwy 89 and Airport Rd) as long as you use your head and make sure you have a proper backstop and stuff.
I belong to a local gun club so if you would like to go there to shoot send me a PM. I would be happy to entertain a guest at my club anytime.

have you figured it out by any chance OP?

im up in muskoka and want to pop a few rounds out of my non res on some crown land, but i wanna know what the deal is.

or anyone know who exactly i should call to ask?

Canadiansurvivor, you should get in touch with the local township office as they will have the information on whether there is a discharge bylaw in effect or restrictions on what you can shoot and when you can shoot.

there's a map floating around, i believe its hosted on a gov website but i cant remember where to find it. but it shows you all the crown land around you..

if anybody knows where that map is can you post it id really like to bookmark it

I live on lake ontario and have about 4 acres land with neighbors being about 50 and 150 meters away from where I would shoot (over a rocky cliff 3-4 high). Could I shoot into/ on the lake providing there were no ships or boats in the distance? Also were I live I am allowed to shoot a firearm according to local laws.
