how do you like it? ive been thinkin about one of those ati stocks for my sks..

all you need now is some tapco 5/20's and maybe a steel 5/30 mag or two and your set!

.... and a muzzle break, scope mount, red dot....

Looks good, anything is better than the factory stock. There was no way I could shoot the SKS all humped over like a monkey f***ing a football. The ergonomics of some of the aftermarket stocks makes the change worth while. You will hear the old diehards out there say they are crap and change the barrel harmonics, etc, ect, ect but most of them have never even tried aftermarket stocks. For me I use and like the Choates Monti Carlo, and the Tapco T6. I have consistant good results at the range with both these stocks.

Same stock I bought, only aftermarket one that I felt looked half decent and would continue to look decent with a 5/20 mag. You're going to find the nubby inside the folder pin is going to be pretty loose, after a while it's going to drive you nuts having the butt end of the stock sitting all cockeye when you try to sight in a shot. I'm still deciding how I'm going to go about fixing it, this Saturday I expect to do a bunch of work on her and I'll probably do something about it then.

Oh and it shoots well, I like it

I hope this doesn't count as thread hijacking, but I figured you might like to see how hot these look without that ugly box mag...

I'm planning on mounting a scope and completely removing the iron sights this weekend as well

I would suggest you do not remove your iron sights until you have your optic perfected or use a setup that irons can be used as well.

Long story short, the irons are coming off and a scope is going on. I hate the irons and I hate trying to shoot 100 yards with them. I've got the scope, and I've got a reciever cover mount, which I'm modifying to mount directly to the reciever. It's not like they can't be put back on if worse comes to worse, the front sight block is only pressed and pinned onto the barrel. I have a 12 ton shop press that should make short work of taking it off in one piece.

Na way bjs7293 this mount on that set-up with a red dot with the x39 BDC rocks on the SkS. Plus it's super easy to install and no mods required to the stock. Even though it says to anchor screws to the stock I never did and it just works great!

I have the mount way back further than posted below. Almost at the rear take down pin.

This is the optic I am talking about;

Its pretty easy to hit stuff at 100 yards with iron sights!

I think it looks sweet, a big improvement....and yes, it does need the 5/20 mags for sure! :D

But where to stop?...................:ar15:

I mounted a scope on mine and hated it, so recently I took it off. The main problem I had was it changed a reasonably light and managable and handy rifle into one that was cumbersome.
In fact I was going to sell it until I took the scope and mount off, and fell in love with the rifle again. I find my eyes are good enough to shoot well at a hundred yds and hit the 1ft rock I put on a pile in my field at 250yds with irons.
If your eyes aren't all that then maybe a scope is a good idea.
I also mounted a small rail into the ATI folder for a flashlight. Works great, but it took some fiddling to get it level.
I use Tapco magazines(usually short 5rd ones), mostly for the convenience factor of slapping one in loaded, but I don't think strippers are that much slower.

When I first dropped mine into the ATI stock there was a lot of play so I bedded the rifle with 3m rubber tape and now shes firm as can be.

Anyway here are the requisite pics

I built up a little epoxy on mine in front of the reciever for a very tight fit, Havent shot it yet to see how accuracy is affected. I like the ergonomics of this stock and the checkering is fantastic. The stock gives a good cheek weld for use with the irons, and I bet the ATI cheek piece would go good with a scope. OAL is reduced to about 32" folded, and LOP is several inches over factory wood. Plus they look awesome with a 'Nanner mag!

My Tapco stocked '52 Tula is my most comfortable SKS and also one of my most accurate.

I have glasses. They're far from ideal. As are irons. They work fine for generally hitting a person sized object, but we're not allowed to shoot people. Yes I get it, this isn't a precision target rifle, and I don't give a damn...my roomie says I can't shoot 4" groups at 100 yards, and I say I can, so on with the scope so I can prove him wrong.
