STI GP6-C Dropping Mags

You are serious, aren't you? The only thing that I removed in that picture was the extractor...

I agree, where is the firing pin safety.......is this a new gun, or did you buy it used?

This is a brand new gun, supposedly...

Relax, I'm sure this is a factory modification. If this was a retrofit, than the hole for the firing pin safety plunger would still be visibile. I just wasn't aware that the C model didn't have the safety. When you look at the picture of the top of the frame, the plunger lifter isn't there, and in it's place is a fatter spacer.

You know, a thought occured to me. If you have time, pull the extractor, it's plunger and spring out of the slide, and try shooting it without one.

I'll try this Saturday. Can you explain what this may accomplish?

I called Sean & got a voicemail saying he's away until Nov.2nd. I'm hoping to maybe get a new extractor quick, and save the trouble of sending the whole gun back.

Some guns work relatively well without an extractor. The GP6 may or may not be one of them. If you pull the extractor, and find that you are now running 100% of the time without a problem, the source of your issue is pretty clear. If you find you are getting the same type of partial extraction double feed, than the issue may be something else.

Thanks!

I posted those pictures on the Russian site in the Grand Power forum. I just got a reply from Grand Power's rep, saying that someone must have ground the extractor, and offering to ship a replacement for free.

I will try your suggestion. If I still have the double-feed I'll kindly ask Sean to replace the gun. Just wanted to save the hustle of getting the ATT, shipping etc. but there's a limit of how much I'm willing to do to make a new pistol work.

I got tired of waiting for the GP shipment from Europe & gave FreedomVentures a call. Should have done it sooner. Sean had overnighted a replacement extractor, and it solved all of my FTEs. I'm a happy man again! :)

I am very impressed with the trigger - however, it is a lot less forgiving than the one on my Shadow, so it'll take time to learn.

Also, I need to up the powder charge - what is OK for heavy Shadow is causing occasional stovepipes in a GP6 which is much lighter. I'm working up a new charge with VV N320 and 124gr CanBDX - I think I have to go 4gr and maybe even a tad more. The 3.8gr of Titegroup worked fine in both Shadow & GP6, but not the N320.

Overall, I'm very happy - however, I will use my Shadow for the upcoming BB course next weekend, just because I know it better.
