I've hunted and shot big game with each. It seems natural to pick 30-06, if a choice was required, considering what so many say about it being more versatile. However, if one used the 270 with only 150 grain Nosler partition, no further versatility is required. There may be other equally as good bullets as Nosler, but it is Nosler that I am familiar with.
Loaded to at least 2900 fps, it is the only load one would require for anything from deer up to the largest animals in Canada. If one were shooting longer ranges in the windy mountains, that load would be better than any the 30-06 could produce.
