So I've just about come to a final decision on my next rifle... Looks like I'm going to get myself an SR22 for Xmas (even though I don't celebrate it, really.)

There's an Airs##t dealer near where I work that I've had the very morbid curiosity of dropping in to, partly to see if they have anything in terms of cheap optics to throw on a .22 mess around with until I figure out what I want without spending a fortune... and because I wouldn't mind getting a decent pistol to practice with at home.

I know I know... Stupid thought, right?
 
what is the thought?... to put an airsoft scope on an SR22? yeah thats weak. but it will at least allow you to hit paper (maybe). just don't pull it out in front of anyone who knows better.
 
Check the EE - I picked up a Tasco for my son's SR22 for $35 shipped - to replace his red-dot. Lots of good deals to be had there, and it always feels good to save money!
 
See here's my reasoning: I really really want to slap an ACOG onto an SR22 for the look cool factor... But I can't really justify dropping the full price of a real Aimpoint for a .22. I figured for gits and shiggles I'd get a Fakepoint for an Airs##t for funzies. If it fails me, I can pawn it off on one of my buddies who plays Airsh!t to recoup the costs.

Then again, Bushnell makes some pretty neat looking red dots. And BSA has a pretty cool 1-3x red dot.

Oh, Pharaoh... I have a couple of rimfire scopes kicking around, but they wouldn't look right on an SR22.
 
I used a couple different airsoft red dots/holosights on .22's and they worked perfectly fine. Granted though like anything else even airsoft cloned optics are only worth what you pay. A "good" airsoft optic is going to cost you about $100 or maybe even more. Anything around the $50 mark might look ok but might not work in adjusting the elevation and windage.

If that's the case then pick up one of the vortex Strikefires for $200. They are a damn fine Red Dot and easily worth the money! Many of us here swear by them.

My first rule of guns, when it comes to .22 rifles, spend as much as you can. Your going to shoot it tens of thousands of times more then any other gun you own, so spend the money and never regret it. At least with your SR-22 the advantage you have over a real AR is you can actually get some use out of the money to put into it.

And besides, I think a regular scope looks fine on rifles like that.

I would go with a NCStar ACOG type knockoff if its for your future SR22.

I know others will say they are sh*t but I have had nothing but good luck with their fixed power line of scopes. And these one will still give your SR that tactical look you are going for. The zoom power ones are alright too, but at maximum the resolution kinda gets blurred around the edges and you get that rounded effect. But you can still see and hit what you are looking at since you are using the crosshairs and not the edges to aim.

Not sure how great it would look -- but I've used some Bushnell 4x32 rimfire scopes on my .22 rifles and they work well (especially for the price).
 
I bought a mueller mx1 red dot sight from whitefalls for under a hundred.
I asked if it would stand up to the recoil from a norc m305, and they said it would.

now there is a mighy fine looking toy! how much are they, where can I find one, are they reasonabley accurate? and I agree :agree: don't skimp on buying your .22's.
 
theres nothing wrong with using airsoft parts, I got some sights and stuff off of ehobbie asia and they are of better quality than the real thing - at a quarter the price. Are you talking about that airsoft shop on 142 and yellowhead? Im waiting on some more magazines and a vertical grip to come in this week :) wouldn't mind getting an ACOG myself if I didnt buy the red dot, here's my SR-22:

Here's my SR22 with knockoff ACOG - I had used this on my AEG rifle previously.. now I only use it until I order something more useful (magnification etc).
It looks good though, and it's actually pretty damn accurate, nevertheless, I'm changing up..

Airsoft? I fricking love airsoft!!!;)
Seriously, I say go for it. It's your money and it sould like you want to, so don't worry about what others think. An airsoft pistol might be a good way to get some livingroom trigger time.
