sks D mag upgrade.

Do the type 45/56 SKS's have the same recess cut in the reciever to grab the front of the AK mags as the D and M models? IF they do then you could swap in a D or M trigger group with the AK mag release and open the magwell inletting to clear the top of the mag. If not then a conversion kit or custom work will be necessary. I would be more interested in making a VZ 58 mag fit as they have the tab that lifts the bolt catch for last shot hold open. AK mags dont have that feature. There was a fellow on these boards who bought an aluminum block that allowed him to remove most of the duckbill from aftermarket SKS detachable mags. This sounds like the easiest and most functional method as it retains last shot hold open.

Hey,

Any method to upgrade the Russian SKS with a sks d mag?

there are no kits , just instructions on how to convert but before you start , read over the attached instruction and ask yourself are you skilled enuff and then ask yourself do you have the equipment to do the conversion.

even if you have both of the above you might still end up with a "D" that has feeding problem .

personally , i think it would cost you more in the long run.

At the end of the day you're still limited by law to five rounds only, and with the 'D' version the bolt is in the forward position. Bang bang bang bang bang, reload, rack the bolt. Every time. It gets old quickly.

In Canada, the unmolested Type 56 Carbine - when used with stripper clips - works way better than the SKS 'D". Cheaper and better.

In my opinion.

oh, i googled type 56 and it showed a AK. Well I would be interested SKS D or M for a reasonable price.

from my research report: 3 Chinese characters . Translates to Type 56 carbine (SKS) , not to be confused with Type 56 rifle which was assigned to the AK47.
