I read somewere else that when you install a Tapco Stock on a SKS that they lose accuracy because they are'nt held in tightly, compared to the wood furniture. Is this true?

I have a fiberforce stock, since my red dot wasn't alight so i shot with open sight.
It shoots accurately up to 200 meters, depends on bullet, conditions and trajectory.

Had a Tapco. Was'nt overly impressed with the overall cheap plastic of it. Accuracy suffered. It even cracked at rear of reciever, where it's very thin. Tapco did not respond to questions about. Went back to original wood. End of troubles.

Ive had my Tapco on my SKS from day 1. No issues. Has seen a full crate and a bit. Just as accurate with open sights as my Marlin 336. I am not really a big fan of the iron sights anyways but there was no difference going from my wood stock to the Tapco. And no such cracking issues. I would never have bought the thing if it wasnt for the Tapco stock. These guns are made for fun, and that wood stock just says boring to me!

Sks and accurate in the same sentence HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I love my sks and I have it in a tapco , I have never noticed a difference than when it was in the original stock !

I bedded mine in it's ATI folder with some 3M rubber tape, it was pretty loose before, now it's tight as can be.
Accuracy is more predictable now too.

Guys on russian forums had some improvement in accuracy after installing into plastic stocks the huge metal pin that is fixed in the original wooden stock and is missing in all plastic/replacement stocks. This pin is the second main point of support for the whole receiver body.

Care to link to it?

btw, there is a lot of useful info there in that thread. For example, they show how to cut away some metal on ejection window, which makes the cases fly right-down instead of forward-right-up. This way there is no need for those ugly "deflectors" to protect the longer scopes from cases.

Aramir, maybe you could translate the part about clearancing the ejection window? I'm really interested in this modification

Sure.
It looks like a very simple mod. Here are some pictures:

Notice how on the left side the window's edge is staight instead of angled?
Here are couple more pics with some closeups:

I am actually unsure how cutting away this corner supposed to change the case path, but the guys over there seem to know what they're doing.

Does this pin occur in any of the original Russian hardwood birch stocks, or just the later laminates?
