Unbelieveable

I'm from MB. In regard to road hunting, I'm referring more toward deer than moose. However, in MB we really don't have moose on open farmland, so road hunting isn't an option. You do have moose in SK and AB on farmland, this I know.

Road hunting is a very common practice in AB, SK and MB and you don't have to try and convince me otherwise, I know plenty of guys out west and local who do it religiously.

It's illegal here,I don't do it myself, nor do I necessarily approve of it, but to portray it as a rarity and an abnormal way of hunting in Canada is untrue.

Being a brand new hunter in MB for my first big game season this year hearing this disappoints me. Something about just hearing of road hunting frustrates me deeply.

Your response and opinions on this are exactly why we can't condone this. It's not a good example for new hunters in the least.

Others can say what they want about it , but I totally disagree with the actions of these guys, let alone posting of video of it. I am also sure more folks will side with me than not on this one.

If you plan to hunt open fields for deer, try to find ones which don't have a road running alongside. Even those who don't shoot from the truck/road will generally stop and spook any deer which happen to be feeding on your field.

Ike the "what's the big deal folk" are for drive hunting itself, not about the display in the video. No one should shoot an animal as it stands in the middle of the road.

Ummmm.......your flip flopping all over the place. Now its a bad idea to shoot an animal in the middle of the road but earlier it was no big deal and didn't understand what the fuse was all about.....

I dont recall saying shooting an animal in the middle of the road was ok (granted maybe I did and don't remember), just that I don't see the huge outcry on drive hunting.

I love some of the people on this forum....the roughin it, hike 20 miles in type that think that their way is the only ethical way to hunt.

I saw nothing wrong with that video, seing as the camera angle doesn't show if there was or wasnt a back stop, then i cant pass judgement on that.

Hunters are hunters, I don't care how or where you harvest an animal, as long as it is done according to the regs.

This is not my style of hunting, but it doesnt mean that its not ok. What about guys who dog for deer? Or guys that use bait? To each their own...But dont come on a public forum and burn a guy for hunting in a perfectly legal fashion.

So you don't know if theres a backstop (down the road) but according to you, they're hunting in a "perfectly legal fashion"? That sounds like a guy passing judgement. How do you know it's not a driveway and that backstop isn't a house?

I don't think of "road hunting" as actually shooting down roads. When I'm driving to and from the range, the fact that morons pull out their rifles and shoot the road signs (on this route) concerns me. I wouldn't feel any better about this practice if they decided to shoot a moose on the road either.

It would be a very boring world if we did everything exactly the same as the other guy and agreed on absolutely every aspect of life.

But yes, I do not agree with this type of hunting. it is my opinion which can't be wrong, it is just my opinion.

I never called them names or threw poo at them so it's all cool.

Similar but not exactly like our parliament.

When I hit the country and were I have permission to hunt,I am hunting.
If there is game to get I will get off the road the legal distance and do the deed.
I shot 5 deer in the black powder last year ,one driving and four on deer drives. I did not see the video, this do it only like I do it is the reason we always fail at any attempt to get anything done as a group..

Sounds like the lazy way, but to each his own. Some people are not as capable as others it seems.

I thought we lived in a country where we were innocent until proven guilty...I guess not.

How do you know that the back stop IS a house or a driveway? Oh, you don't, because only the shooter had the right angle...I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was shooting in a safe direction, considering there is zero evidence to the contrary.
