Looking to pick up a gun for trap and skeet. Found a yildiz (sp?) o/u for about 675.00 any opinions on these good, bad? I dont want to shell out big bux for a gun It comes with three choke inserts.
Thanks in advance.

I would rate them only slightly better than a condor. As a hunting gun it may last you the rest of your life. It might break targets as well as any other model or make, but I would not expect them to last into the thousands of rounds. In general, a POS.

I purchased one of these shotguns and am pleased with it. The action is light (aluminum) and it makes the gun a pleasure to pack and shoot. Probably not so good for heavy hunting loads.

My son has probably shot close to 5000 rnds in sporting clays with it and no problems.

Just bought one recently. It was the best fit, and nice and light for swinging quickly. It is very tight, with minimal tolerances, I like that. So far the hammer hits pretty consistently, haven't had a missfire.

The action is indeed aluminum, and therefore a touch on the soft side. I think enough hot loads and busy trap nights will probably make it mush in the end. But It's damn light for the bush.

To note: Heavy gun = less perceived recoil. Light gun = sore shoulder. Especially if you are hammering out a couple of rounds of trap.

The advantage, you will probably have an easier time getting on target, and following through. Not to mention the ease of packing it in the bush for the real flappers. The wood is down-right GORGEOUS, the action tight, and the scrolling attractive and clean.

The downside, sore shoulder, not tons of life in the action... oh and the single trigger is a little long on the reset to fire the next barrel.

Was it worth the price... IMHO yes.

Should YOU buy it? How the heck should I know? ;) For that price, you could get an old citori (love em!) and take the chance the last owner didn't use it to pry tires off their rims. Up to you!

I plan on using it till it gets soft then just keep it because it's pretty.

Ive got a Yildiz and love the gun. Ive got over 1000 rounds through it and not a problem yet. The wood on it is nicer then most guns in $2000 mark.
Im not into bustin clays anymore so hopefully it will last as an upland gun for many years. Love the way it handles.

Cheers!!

There's a reason dedicated clays guns (even the budget ones) are as pricey as they are. If you're looking for something that will hold up but thousands and thousands of rounds, summer after summer, and not wanting to empty your bank, even look for a field grade citori.
