I was shooting my grizzly mag on Sunday.. i was using 2 3/4 slugs as usual (with no problems what so ever), but then i decided to try to load a 3" in to the mag.. after the first shot , the expended shell got stuck in the chamber and didn't want to come out. Unfortunately i didn't see that and tried to chamber the next round.. causing a serious jam.. :) as a result of that the small spring (thin strip of metal) on the side of the receiver got bent, and now i cant chamber a round at all, unless push down on that spring with a screwdriver to let the bolt pass.

What exactly does that part do? Pushing the shell out..?
the bent piece looks to be permanently mounted (the pin is mushroomed from on top). What can i do..? Any suggestions..?

here are some pics. :

thanks for your help.

Unfortunately because it looks to be riveted in place, I doubt you will be able to bend it back and have it stay. I'm looking at mine and am unsure what it's for. I do know that when I shoot 3", I load them individually and without the magazine and haven't had any problems.

You bent and deformed the ejector. Don't bother bending it back into shape. Even if you could, it wouldn't work properly because it's deformed and twisted. If it's spring steel, it doesn't lend itself to bending in small increments. Needs to be replaced.

If you find a competent gunsmith with the proper tool, the ejector can be removed without removing the rivet altogether and stake a new ejector in place if enough meat is retained, otherwise you'll end up with a new rivet showing ugly on the outside of the receiver.

As I often say, if it takes too much force, you're doing it wrong.

Unless Dominion Arms guns are different in construction than Norinco, the rivit that holds the ejector and it's spring in place is likely smaller than the Remington part. If you can't replace the ejector spring and ejector without sacrificing the rivot. you'll have to ream the reciever to accept the Remington part. If you are replacing anything, you might as well replace both with the Remington part. The Chinese ejector tends to be a bit frail and the spring is sometimes bent wrong.

The big downside is when replacing the rivot, you need to dress the finished peened surface and refinish the gun. Not a big deal if you are covering the side with a side saddle.

Wow that sucks, looks like you should buy a new piece and install it but i doubt people sell that tiny little piece separately by any chance, therefore you will need a gunsmith, its not much of a job, but you just need to do it right the first time or else the problem will keep coming back, either not cycle well or bend again, hope you get it fixed somehow

Wow, I'm surprised that got bent since there isn't a lot of force being exerted on it. Have the gunsmith check the rest of the gun to make sure nothing is binding the shell during the ejection process, otherwise you might end up fragging another ejector :(

So, are 3" shells a problem for the Grizzlies?

I just got mine today and was going to pickup 3" slugs, but now I'm thinking I'll stick to the 2 3/4".

I don't believe the mags will work well (or at all) with 3 inch. They should work fine with 2 3/4.

From your pictures it looks like the ejector spring is broken, not just bent. It should have a hump on it and then the tail section should run along beside the bolt.

These Norinco spirngs are made from old sardine cans. The good news is that Remington parts can be put into them.
